Angustias church

We cross Esteiro avenue and arrive at ANGUSTIAS CHURCH.

Located in the Esteiro neighbourhood opposite the Angustias gardens, its construction was undertaken by the congregation of the same name and completed in 1788. It has a simple architecture with a notable sober façade and an elongated floor plan. The original tower, which was destroyed during a storm, was replaced in 1852 with the current tower. It should be pointed out that the most venerated statue and that for which local people feel the greatest devotion is the one that gives its name to this temple: “La Virgen de las Angustias” (The Virgin of Distress), who overlooks the altar.
